About Me

Hi! I’m a computer science student at UCSD with a crippling addiction to the outdoors. I started off geocaching with my family when I was 11 which morphed into hiking which morphed into backpacking and mountain biking which morphed into running which morphed into mountaineering which morphed into peakbagging which morphed into ultrarunning which morphed into some combination of all of the above. Currently, most of my adventures contain some mix of long distance running, mountaineering, and peakbagging, but as you can see from the list above, I’m basically interested in anything outdoors.

I tried to maintain a blog before, but I tried too hard to copy Bob Burd’s amazing website too much (snwburd.com) and felt like I had to write trip reports about every single adventure, no matter how big or small. This led to inevitable burnout when I missed a trip and progress ground to a halt. In this iteration, I might include some TRs, but I’m going to try to go with the flow a little more and write about whatever is on my mind. Inevitably, it will mostly be related to the mountains, but I’ll try to add some variety. Enjoy!

Etymology:

  1. The domain name comes from my family’s geocaching handle when this was originally a website to keep track of our geocaching stats in 2015. Where the handle itself came from is a mystery, but I already owned the domain name, so sticking with it made sense.
  2. The new name of “Ramble On” is simultaneously a reference to nothing at all, “Ramble on Rose” by the Grateful Dead, and “Ramble On” by Led Zeppelin. I don’t know exactly where I heard the first phrase, but I’ve always loved it and since my writing tends to ramble on, it only seemed fitting.
